I’m so excited to finally be creating this blog post! So many of you have been asking me for recommendations on what are key things that need to be in your closet this season. If you know me, you know I’m all about sticking to neutrals that can be layered – this makes the outfit-creating possibilities endless without breaking the bank. Here’s my round up of fall essential pieces that will not only take you from work to weekend but will transition into winter, too!

Plaid Blazer

The quintessential fall staple jacket – the plaid blazer. The beauty of this piece is versatility. Layer it on top of a t-shirt or pair it with trousers for a completely different look and feel. I love this one because of the rich rust color that just screams fall. It’s also a great weight for layering sweaters and scarves underneath.

Trench Coat

Well actually this is a closet staple ALL. YEAR. LONG. I switched it up this season and got this plaid one that is more of a coat material to take me from fall into winter. The quality and structure are amazing and it looks way more expensive than it really is.

Black Turtleneck

A must for layering during the cooler months, a black turtleneck can literally be styled hundreds of ways, and serves as a great base for an ultra chic outfit. Opt for a more cropped length to create the illusion of longer legs without the hassle of tucking!

Cream V-Neck Sweater

Truly a basic that everyone needs in their wardrobe. I have put off getting a nice sweater for years and years. Instead I would buy a bunch of cheaply made, low quality ones that after a few wears and washes looked dingy. I finally did a thing and bought a few cashmere sweaters and I’m officially a convert. So soft, so warm, so luxurious. And this one is under $100!

Tan Crewneck Sweater

Camel is by far my most worn color of the season, so I had to snag another cashmere sweater (XS) to complete my fall closet. Also, under $100!

Sweater Dress

Can we even think about having a conversation about fall staples without talking about a good sweater dress? I think not. I sized up to a Small in this one for length, but I really didn’t need to. Pro tip: Opt for longer sweater dresses to maximize versatility – wear with tights to the office or shorten it with a belt for a weekend ready look!

Layering Cardigan

The classic cardigan is a must have for your fall and winter wardrobe! Opt for a neutral color and cashmere material for ultimate versatility, comfort, and warmth.

Tie Waist Pants

A good pair of pants that you can actually get excited to wear are a must for any season. I love these because the tie waist adds a little something extra and the quality is SO GOOD.

Leather Jacket

If you only take my advice on one thing let or be investing in a leather jacket. I own too many faux leather, cold, stuff jackets to count. I finally splurged on a genuine leather jacket and if I knew what I know now I would have done it years ago! You simply can’t beat the comfort, warmth, and durability!

Thank you so much Nordstrom for sponsoring today’s post!
