What I’d Wear to….
Brunch
My favorite meal of the week – brunch! Give me all the mimosas and french toast please and thank you 🙂 Deciding what to wear definitely depends on the restaurant. The options I’ve shown above are more casual and laidback. Think something more elevated than a diner and more casual than the Plaza. Yes, I know that’s a wide range but you know what I mean! I like my outfits for brunch to be classy and chic, so I’ve opted for neutrals and tried to balance casual with sophisticated.
Cookout
Cookout or BBQ? Which do you call it? I’ve always called them cookouts, but no matter what you call it, the attire is generally about the same. Specific attire may vary depending on the occasion but for the most part I like to focus on comfort and practicality. Jean shorts and lightweight tops are my go to, and of course flat shoes because of the grass. For a themed event like a 4th of July cookout, I would probably dress it up a bit with a festive midi or maxi dress! Gingham, florals, and of course, red, white, and blue would work well.
Errands
“Running errands” is my code word for spending too much money at Target and Trader Joes. For roaming around crowded aisles and potentially waiting in lines, I’m all about comfort. T-shirt dresses, relaxed fit jeans, and soft flowy shorts are all in my errand running outfit lineup.
Winery
When I think about summer outfits for a winery I think about flowy silhouettes, midi skirts, maxi dresses, floral prints, gingham, and wicker/straw outfit finishers, like bags and hats. For a wine tasting in the city I would opt for something like this, but if I was going to a wine region I would choose something like this. Venue is everything!
Bridal Shower
Outfit Details: Dress (XS) – fit TTS + Shoes (similar)
The cardinal rule when deciding on an outfit to wear to a bridal shower is to not outshine the bride. She should be the dressiest person in the room. Ask her what she’s wearing and then dress slightly less formal than that and of course white, ivory, off white, and anything that can be mistaken as white (pale yellows and blues can sometimes pull white in photos) are off limits. I personally feel like you can’t go wrong with a floral midi dress!
Date Night
Dressing for date night is all about elevating your go to summer outfit and giving it some nighttime flair and a hint of va va voom. A lot of these tops I would actually wear out with jean shorts and flat sandals or sneakers, but when you add in the matching skirt or you show a little more shoulder with a strappy tank it takes your outfit up a notch! And I’m sure you already know this but one of the easiest ways to dress up an outfit is to add a heel. I like starting with my go-to outfit and modifying from there to make it more nighttime appropriate because it keeps me from going overboard and into super extra territory, lol.
Wedding
I actually did a whole blog post on what to wear to a summer wedding here, but when I was placing my order recently and saw this gem for under $60 I HAD to have it! The fit and feel is amazing and for the price I’m still in shock.
Hopefully this serves as inspiration for the next time you’re stuck not knowing what to wear to a summer festivity!
